A beautiful Aso-oke fabric from Nigeria with a combination of thin light blue stripes against a dark blue background. One edge of the strip also has a beige and dark red stripe . (Please note colours may appear differently on your monitor/screen)
Aso-Oke (pronounced ah-SHOW-kay) is short for Aso Ilu Oke which means clothes from the up-country. It is also sometimes refereed to as Aso-Ofi. It is a hand woven cloth made mostly by the Yoruba tribe of south west Nigeria. It is woven in strips and these strips are commonly sewn together to make clothing.
It is a thick fabric which is similar in texture to denim or canvas. This listing is for strips available to purchase BY THE METRE. The width of the strip is 7 inches (18 cm).
You can order the length of the fabric strip you require using the arrows above. Your fabric will be sent as one continuous length. Kindly note that if you are purchasing this for a traditional/Nigerian wedding outfit (pele and gele), you will have to sew the strips together yourself. The fabric is sold as strips not the finished item.
