stacks of fabric in an African fabric store

we love fabric!

What we do

Welcome to Urbanstax, where we aim to be your one-stop Modern African Fabric Store. We are totally in love with fabric, in particular African fabric, and hope to share the beautiful stories behind their creation and use.

Whether you are a dressmaker, upholsterer, quilter or general creative person, our aim is to give you a wide range of interesting and unique African textiles for your projects. We source African prints, tie dyes, woven strips and batiks manufactured or handmade on the African continent.

This is important as the textile industry is vital to the economies of these countries, local employment and investment in creativity. We currently stock fabric from South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania and Ivory Coast and continue to add new fabric from more countries to our selection. We are constantly in search of new suppliers and designs, all from African makers.

If you are looking for that perfect print or batik fabric for you next sewing project, we are sure you will find something unique and just for you. Have a look in our shop and do get in touch if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
