Ankara also knows as Kitenge but more commonly called wax print fabrics. These are 100% cotton and typically come in lengths of 6 yards (5.4 metres) or 12 yards (10.8 metres).

They are available to purchase by the yard or as whole bundles

Adire refers to our tie dye and batik fabrics.

These are 100% cotton and typically comes in lengths of 5 yards (4.5 metres) and 48 inch widths.

Aso-oke refers to our loom woven strips of thick fabric.

They are usually cotton or silk and typically come in bundles of about 16 metres. Available to purchase by the metre of as a bundle.

Shweshwe is a print fabric from South Africa.

They are 100% cotton and typically comes in lengths of 40 metres and available to purchase by the metre

We stock the 3 Cats Shweshwe brand

CARE: Wash at 40 degrees Celsius and iron on medium (Shrinkage approximately 8%)

WEIGHT: 158 gsm approximately

Original shweshwe comes stiff and starched and the recommendation is to wash them at 40 degrees celsius before sewing. This gets rid of the starch and makes them soft.

Shweshwe also has a distinctive smell which will wash away after a few washes. It is also a great way to know that it is authentic!
