Ikiré Jones is a Menswear company that marries African aesthetics with Neapolitan tailoring. I came across these designers after a number of blogs featured their latest collection “…& Other Stories By Our Stolen Children”. I was completely taken in by the magical imagery and the bold prints. As if that was not enough, I read their ‘About Us’ section on their website and have completely fallen in love with their approach and ethos. I especially appreciate the quote. ‘The things that we make may not be widely accepted as beautiful to everyone, but they will be fiercely embraced as beautiful by a special few.’ Love it. We are not all a homogeneous entity. We are all the same yet all different. I think is work of artists albeit the chosen medium is fashion and clothing. I think to call Ikiré Jones an African designer is quite a stretch although one of their team Walé Oyéjidé is of African heritage and you can certainly see the influences of the continent in the boldness of their work.
