A vibrant colourway for this very popular Ankara  print. It has several names from country to country such as the Speedbird, Hirondelle, ‘Air Afrique’ and ‘Money Has Wings’. Money has wings because if you are not careful it will fly away! The print design has been around for a long time and this is just one of the many colour combinations available.

Great for clothing, accessories and any craft projects you have on the drawing board. A great Ankara fabric that is soft in texture and would work well in almost any sewing project.

To give you an idea of scale, each oval is about 5 inches wide.

THE MEANINGS BEHIND THE SYMBOL

Hirondelle: This is the french word for the Swallow bird. Swallows are a symbol of good luck. In Togo the pattern is called ‘Air Afrique’ because the fabric was also used in the uniform of the local airline company. Sika Wo Antaban means ‘Money has Wings’. In Ghana the pattern refers to the transience of riches: rich today, poor tomorrow, for money, if one is not careful, will fly away like a bird. This fabric encourages people to make good financial investments.
