A classic African print fabric celebrating the Highlife music which is a genre that originated in Ghana and spread to other African countries like Nigeria. This one comes in a funky purple and orange colour combination.

Printed on 100% cotton, this fabric suitable for a vast range of sewing and dressmaking projects.

This fabric is sold by the Yard which is 91 cm. Use the arrows above to select the number of Yards you need and a continuous length of fabric will be sent to you. A tape measure is shown in the last image to give you an idea of the scale of the fabric design. The tape is showing inches.

    I love the design – see my Yellow/Pink Review – but this is a less assured colour combination. Contrast is not quite as strong as the image implies, and in places blurred edges between pigments also detract (check the diagonals on the bow-ties).

    That said, remembering my colour theory*, I contrasted the Purple with it’s perfect complimentary colour (Green) in a small Water-Well design, and used the Purple High-Life as the lining… ooh’s and aah’s, and statements of love come from all directions!

    *My hot-tip for colour theory is Josef Albers’ “Interaction of Colour” (his wife Anni Albers was a leading Textile designer in the 20C, due to have a retrospective at the Tate this year…)
